ENET BOOK CLUBThe ENET Book Club is an online community designed for ENET members to discuss various books related to or of interest to the Career Development and Rehabilitation fields. Book Club discussions will occur during a specific 5-day period (usually Tuesday to Saturday) and we hope to profile a new book each month – keep watch for a Book Club schedule. The ENET Book Club provides an opportunity for practitioners to connect with colleagues around British Columbia and, where possible, there will be opportunities to connect with the author(s). Even better it gives you a reason to get caught up on your reading “wish list.” Book recommendations are welcomed. Contact us to recommend a book. Order information and Book Club dates will be released in the bi-weekly ENET News. If you are interested in participating please email info@enetsociety.com with your name and membership number to be added to the participant list. Be sure to note which discussion you would like to part take in. Two days prior to the schedule discussion period you will receive instructions via email on how to access the online discussions. While this service is free to ENET members, there is a cost for each book. Be sure to allow time to order and read the book prior to the scheduled discussion. We look forward to seeing you. Book Club Schedule Date:September 23 - 27 Book: Labour Market Survivability For Bronze, Silver, and Gold Years by Jackline Ochieng It's tough being an older job seeker in today's economy. To begin with, the current zeal for workers in the trade sector, including construction and energy, seek physically agile employees, a trait that diminishes with age. Second, the most common non-skilled positions, such as courier services and warehouse work, require energy and physical endurance that make it hard for older workers who may have been injured in the course of delivering service in their previous employment. This journal examines current issues facing the older job seeker, explores resources available for this clientele, and recommends a new focus on strengths, rather than weakness, as a tool to help the older job seeker enter the labour market. Exciting News: Jackline Ochieng, the author, will be joining in on the discussions. She currently works as an Employment Consultant for the Experience For Hire program at S.U.C.C.E.S.S., serving job seekers 45+. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Master of Arts degree in Sociology in 2006 Ordering Information: Use our all in one order form http://www.enetsociety.com/pdf/order_form.pdf.
