PHILOSOPHER'S CAFÉ
Philosopher’s Café is a monthly face-to-face discussion held in various locations throughout the province. Groups will gather to discuss the same topic, during the same week each month, supported by a volunteer facilitator. These facilitators will be ENET members who will, first, connect online to discuss the café topic, organize café activities, and discuss questions. Upon conclusion of the café the facilitators will summarize the discussions which will then be compiled into an ENET topical journal.
Just imagine…career practitioners in every corner of BC discussing the same topic, during the same week, then sharing those discussions through a topical journal. This would be an unprecedented coming together and give participants an opportunity to learn, first hand, about the challenges and successes of career professionals in their own locale and around the province.

Following the September ENET Training Day, let’s take a more in depth look into the role of technology in career development. If you are unable to attend the session (i.e., you do not reside in the Lower Mainland) this is a great opportunity to get a group together and discuss this topic.
For younger generations technology is embedded within their personal and career lives and as they come into contact with our programs and services, they expect the use of it. In the educational field technology has been given a more significant role (although not without struggles). We in the career development field are really just starting out. Where are we now and where do we go from here? How do we move to the next stage? What strategies and tools do we need? How do we keep up with the fast growth in technology, without losing track of the human nature of our service?
